  • Bye Bye America, Hello Hong Kong + China :-)

Last year, I went on a biomedical service trip that really opened my eyes. We traveled to different clinics and orphanages in Southern China and worked mostly with kids with cerebral palsy. Most of them could not walk and many were abandoned. Our team worked with a university in Hong Kong to provide foot, ankle, and knee orthotics for these children. Even though I didn’t always know what was going on, I can say that it was the most eye-opening experience I have ever had. I went into it thinking it’d be an educational trip, but it turned into a life-changing trip.

These children are still children of God and able to experience the same feelings of happiness, joy, sorrow, and love. They’re no different than who we are. People think they can’t enjoy life, they can’t be a child, they can’t grow up in a happy family, but I saw them do what others said they could not do. I saw people who gave their hearts to these children and I saw parental love for children who had no parents. I saw dedication, passion, and I saw a desire to give life, to live life, to be life.

Those who loved were not Christians. If our God’s love is so much better and so much stronger, then how much more can I love?

I’ve been blessed with another opportunity to go to China and this is what I wonder – With the knowledge and the experience God has given me, how can I go back and love like God loves?

Off to China I go . Pray for me. This isn’t a missions trip, but my life is always a mission.

  • Hello Young,
You made your site simple yet elegant. The pictures are a nice touch. I see that you have a strong desire to serve God. Now is a good time! I recommend the one true God, Jehovah. He has an important message for all of us: 18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. (Psalms 83:18) (KJV)
